|Subject:||Maintain state of HTML form?|

I have a static html page with a form. Is there a way to maintain the state
a dynamically-generated page using CGI or using cookies?
Say I have in page1.html:
<input name="field1" value="default1"/>
When a user fills field1 with "uservalue1", submits the form and then either
goes back to page1.html or reloads page1.html, all form fields are reset to
the default values (cleared if none). I'd like the reloaded page1.html to
"uservalue1" filled in field1. But again without client-side scripting,
through the use of some HTTP header without using CGI or cookies.
