I sometimes have to install pcAnywhere or Remote Desktop Connection on
remote computers. Those applications require forwarding ports (5631,
5632, 3398, etc.) In situations where I cannot connect, it would be
convenient to be able to ping the router to make sure the ports really
did open. Is there a way with Windows 2000 to ping a router port from a
commmand prompt? There are some software applications (port scanners?)
that accomplish this task, but the ones I have seen are expensive, and I
really only need to check several ports. Obviously I am not very
experienced at this, so an idiot's explanation would be helpful.
