|Subject:||NAT and Keep State IP Rule|

I have a Vigor ADSL router incorporating a four port switch.
I am starting to understand NAT and IP rules but I am still puzzled
about something; my router allows an option (ticked or not) for Keep
State in IP rules.
NAT appears to allow any incoming traffic that is related to an
outgoing request, that I understand.
As there does not appear to be an option to turn NAT I am wondering
what is the purpose of enabling or disabling Keep State in an IP rule.
